What year truck does everyone have??

Postby dave » Sat Oct 15, 2005 10:21 am

Just wondering if there are any years that are more popular than others among 73-79 enthusiasts. If you have more than one truck vote for your main truck. :D

I had to pick up my 77 when I found it as that was the yr I was born so I always said I'd build one just wasn't planning on another crewcab. It is a 77.5 it had all the good stuff. Set up for the 460 and has PS, PB,A/C all the stuff that had to be added to my 70. :)

Welcome aboard.
:D I'd love to have a '77-79 crew cab. Right now I have a '71 F100. Someday soon I'd like to have the crew for my daily driver.

We'll based on the polls so far atleast I'm ahead of the 75's. I have a 74 XLT. I like alot of Fords but prefer the shortbox 73-79 trucks.

Love all the 73-79 dentsides, but I want a '74 4x4 reg. cab long box. We have an I/M program in Alaska and '74 is the last year that does not require any sort of emmission standards.
It only takes time and money...I dont have either!!!

I'll hold off on voting for now, as I may be trading my truck in the next week or so.

Personally, I've always been partial to the '73-'77, with a preference to '73-'75 grills. Right now I own a '78 250 Supercab 4x4, but I may be trading it to a guy near here for a '74 F250 4x4 Crew flatbed with duallys under the back, along with a '75 parts truck.

If I end up getting that truck, then I'll vote for '74, otherwise, it's '78.

That's us. This is actually the truck I'm thinking about trading for the Crew Cab. I like it, but it's not in as good a condition as it appears, and it's just not exactly the style I wanted. Also, the guy I may be trading it to has been trying to get it from me for over a year now, since it's just not easy to find 78-79 250 Supercab 4x4s. I've seen plenty of 250 supers, but the only other 4x4 I've seen other than mine is across the street from me at the fire dept. They have one just like mine, but in better condition, they use as their squad truck. I've talked to them on several occasions about buying it, but the city isn't interested in selling. Aparently, Burrton has not sold a fire truck in close to 40 years. They still have a '68 Ford pumper truck, what ever is a step or two up from the F-350 (did they make 450s and 550s then?), that they use whenever it's needed.

As soon as I figure out how the gallery features work here, I'll post some better pictures of my truck and the Crew that I'm thinking about.
